Summer Employment at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth

The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth seeks exceptional instructional staff for its summer courses in critical and creative writing. CTY provides intensive course work in the liberal arts for talented pre-collegiate students ages 8 to 18 in grades 2 to 12.

Summer Employment Opportunity
Teaching Critical and Creative Writing
CTY offers academically rigorous programs for highly talented elementary, middle, and high school students. We are currently seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates to work in our summer programs. At both day and residential sites, instructors design curriculum and teach a three week course. At residential sites, teaching assistants support classroom instruction. At day sites, program assistants support classroom instruction and facilitate the activities program.

Desired Qualifications
Instructor candidates: advanced graduate coursework in the discipline and significant independent teaching experience related to our courses.
Teaching assistant candidates: advanced college coursework in the discipline and experience working with young people, as a tutoring, or as a TA.
Program assistant candidates: experience working with children and a demonstrated interest in the subject.
For all positions, experience working with young academically talented learners is preferred.


Locations
Residential sites for grades 5-12 are located in California, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington and Hong Kong.
Day sites for grades 2-6 are located in the Baltimore, Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego, and Washington DC areas and Hong Kong.


Core Program Dates: Session 1: June 25–July 18; Session 2: July 18–August 8
Salaries: Instructors earn $2400-$3000 per session based upon education and experience; teaching assistants and program assistants earn $1200 per session. Residential and Hong Kong locations provide room and board.
