Spring 2019 Atlantic Lecture: Featuring Rona Pondick
Atlantic Lecture: Featuring Rona Pondick
Rona Pondick is an internationally renowned sculptor whose work has been described by Nancy Princenthal of the New York Times as “a dreamlike melding of human, beast, and steel.” At once beautiful and unsettling, Pondick’s sculptures invite all who see them to contemplate our mortality, to come to terms with the ways our minds and bodies understand what we often think of as our humanity, whether we call it our spirit or soul or something else.
Since 1984, Pondick has had over 45 solo exhibitions of her work in museums and galleries internationally. Her sculptures have been included in over 200 group exhibitions, including numerous biennials worldwide: the Whitney Biennial, Lyon Biennale, Johannesburg Biennale, Sonsbeek, and Venice Biennale. She lives and works in New York City.
